Favilla F-5 (1962)

Very good+ condition. ‘OO’ size. Nut: 1 23/32”( Slightly more than 1 11/16”). Body depth: 3 7/8’ to 4 1/8”. Scale: ~ 25 1/8”. Ladder braced mahogany top. Mahogany back and sides and neck. Brazilian rosewood bridge and fingerboard. All solid woods.
Serial No. 4302. According to Thomas H. Favilla, son of Herk Favilla, this guitar was made in 1962.

Neck was recently reset. In the process of removing the neck the sides were slightly cracked. The cracks were nicely repaired and are very solid. The cracks are actually less visible than the photos indicate.

Favilla was a NYC maker, established in 1890. In the 1960’s folk era many people considered Favilla guitars to be comparable to Martins but a lot less expensive. This guitar is a fine example of why.

The guitar has a very nice sound. It is quite comfortable to hold and plays easily. It is excellent for finger style, blues and light to moderate strumming. The soft shell case (red interior) is probably the original case.
