Martin Soprano Ukelele Style 2-K (1924-1932)

Very good+ condition. Solid koa top, back and sides with nice bit of curly koa on sides. Rosewood fingerboard, mahogany neck. The top and back are ivoroid bound with black and cream color purflings (Probably ebony and holly). Bar type frets. Original patent mechanical tuning pegs. The back of headstock is stamped: “C.F. Martin & Co/ Nazareth PA”.

There is no serial number, typical of the ukuleles of this period.

The use of patent tuning machines began in 1924. The use of bar frets ended in 1934. In 1932 Martin began using a decal instead of the stamp. So, this ukulele was made between 1924 and 1932.

There are two short repaired cracks on the top, on the bass side; repaired by MacBlane String Instruments (Robert MacBlane), Preble, NY. They are slightly noticeable. The area around the bridge has scuff marks, probably due to the bridge being re-glued. I have owned this instrument for over 30 years and the bridge area was like that when I acquired it. There is some typical finish wear from playing on the top.

The instrument has a warm and sweet sound and nice action. A new hardshell case and an old (original?) bag are included.
