Weyman Mandolute

This is a fairly rare instrument, circa. 1915-1925. It is somewhat larger than a typical
A style mandolin, approaching the size of a mandola. Exqusite curly maple back and sides,
spruce top. The top and back extend beyond the sides, similar to a violin.

This may be the highest grade Mandolute Weyman made. Others I have seen have
plain mahogany back and sides, little or no ornamentation and cheap machines.
The photos really do not do justice to the maple. It is some of the nicest I have ever seen.
The reddish finish brings out the curl in the flamed maple and give it depth and beauty.

The tuning machines are in excellent condition and work very well.
It has nice low action and a rich sweet tone. It is a wonderful parlor instrument.

The marks on the back near the heel of the neck are not cracks. They are deep scratches,
probably caused by a metal stand. The end of the fingerboard that overhangs the
sound hole was repaired by me. There was a small piece missing. I restored it
and put a reinforcement piece of wood behind, because the fingerboard is very thin there. The repair is nearly invisible.

Modified chipboard case. $895.00.
